Join us from the comfort of your home for a virtual yoga session sponsored by Visit Santa Barbara. The session will be led by Visit Santa Barbara's very own Senior Manager of Travel Trade, Jocilyn Schumacher.
Jocilyn will find the only dog at the party (if the pup doesn’t find her first), truly believes in the power of travel and body movement for good, and is the physical embodiment of a Californian (there is no shortage of the terms stoked, gnarly and awesome in her vocabulary).
Jocilyn was born and raised in Ventura, California, and now calls Santa Barbara home. Her dream of a career in Audio Production was completely sidetracked after a life-changing four-month journey with Semester at Sea. Once she saw the impact that travel could have on a person, she was inspired to share her knowledge with the world. After college, she started her career in hospitality, and a meandering path that included another 8 month trip around the world culminated in her current position at Visit Santa Barbara. She delights in sharing her love of the area with people and seeing how coming to Santa Barbara changes their worlds.
Outside of her career in tourism, Jocilyn thrives on moving and strengthening her body. Alongside her yoga practice, she has completed two full marathons and countless other races, climbed multiple mountains (Kilimanjaro being the tallest), and competed in a bodybuilding show (she’s been kindly referred to as a gym rat). Jocilyn’s approach to yoga is simple: Yoga isn’t about having the perfect Lululemon outfit and proving to Instagram that you can bend your feet over your head. Yoga is about connecting back with your body and nourishing your soul so that you are prepared to nourish yourself, those around you, and this world.
